Four runners honored by 5CTCA performance for weekend of Aug. 30

SALINAS - DeAnza College was the lone Norcal program to compete in Week#2 (Aug. 30) but showed it has two individuals that should contend for All-Region honors come November. For the women, Mackenzie MacDonald placed 4th overall at the Ventura College Pirate XC Invitational in 21:17. The Mountain Lions were also led by Diego Ochoa-Mendez who was sixth overall in 22:41 over the challenging 4 Mile course at Arroyo Verde Park.

Mt.SAC appears to have reloaded with a potential state contender in Emmanuel Hernandez. Hernandez placed 9th overall at the 4 year heavy Mark Covert Classic at Carbon Canyon Regional Park. His time over 8km was a swift 24:31. Sherlyn Gomez has returned for her sophomore campaign at LA Harbor College and ran away at the South Coast Conference Preview at Heartwell Park. Gomez was timed in 19:37, finishing over two minutes ahead of the second finisher.
