CCCWPCA announces Players of the Week for third week of the season
SARATOGA - Whatever they were feeding the water polo players at Modesto Jr. College and Riverside City College last week paid off with a pair of regional award winners for each school, a CCCWPCA first. Congratulations to Pirates Sofia Heutmaker and Diego Guerra and Tigers Yosra Elseifi and Luke Bills.

NorCal
Men
Modesto goalkeeper Diego Guerra helped the Pirates to a 4-0 outing at the Bill Anttila Tournament at San Joaquin Delta. The 6-1 sophomore from Fresno’s Bullard High School totaled 54 saves in those four games, including 19 saves in a 14-12 championship game win over host Delta. Guerra currently leads the 3C2A with 160 saves in 11 contests.
Women
Another Pirate netminder, Sofia Heutmaker, led Modesto to a 3-2 week, including a 2-2 weekend at the West Valley Invitational. The 6-0 sophomore from Modesto’s Gregori High School recorded 89 saves in Saratoga. She had 19 against Las Positas, 29 against Ventura, 18 vs. Fresno City and 23 against West Valley. Like Guerra, Heutmaker leads the 3C2A in saves with 180 in ten games.
SoCal
Men
Riverside City’s Luke Bills helped lead the Tigers to double-digit home-opening wins over Chaffey and Rio Hondo. The 6-2 freshman center out of Redlands East Valley High School scored six goals in each contest and finished the week with 15 goals, six steals, three assists and three drawn ejections. Bills leads the 3C2A in goals with 41 in nine games.
Women
Yosra Elseifi helped Riverside City go 3-1 at the Orange Coast Invitational, where the 3rd-ranked Tigers battled three CCCWPCA Top Ten squads. The 5-7 first-year attacker from Irvine’s Northwood High School tallied 12 goals, four steals, a pair of assists and a drawn ejection in those OCC tourney games.
