Folsom Lake climbs to #5 in this week's State Women's Basketball Top 25
There were very few changes in this week's CCCWBCA State Top 25 Poll as the biggest move was made by new #5 Folsom Lake College in jumping up three spots.
The Falcons (16-2) are 6-0 to lead the Big 8 Conference and have a current 8-game winning streak. Just in the past week, FLC downed #18 Santa Rosa by 36 points, scored a 20-point triumph over #8 Sierra, then reached the century mark in points for the third time in its string with a 109-59 victory over Diablo Valley. Gianna Darte made 10 shots from 3-point land for an even 30 v. DVC.
College of the Sequoias remains #1 and still undefeated at 18-0 as it again received all of the first place votes (16) and 400 total voting points. The Giants opened Central Valley play in a big way with a 119-67 win over Taft, then a 112-44 triumph over Reedley. Morgan Trigueiro scored 33 points v. Reedley.
At #2, Mt. San Antonio (15-3) continues to be the South region's top squad. Taliyah McFerson was 8-for-10 from the field, scoring 17 points in a 61-point win over El Camino. The Mounties won't begin South Coast Conference North Division play until Jan. 22.
The #3 Orange Coast Pirates (15-3) started Orange Empire play with wins over #11 Cypress, 57-50, and Riverside CC. Alyssa Dreesen tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds v. the Chargers.
San Jose CC entered the top 10 at #10 while San Mateo moved back into the rankings at #25.
