Mt. San Antonio and Reedley roar to women's golf regional championships; 3C2A Championship begins Sunday

CHINO – After dominating play for all of the 2024 regular season, it was only fitting that the Mt. San Antonio College women’s golf team continued to remain the team to bead
The Mounties played a steady two days of golf at Los Serranos Golf Club (par-74) and conquered the 5,683-yard course with a Sunday team score of 309 and a Monday team score of 308 for a two-round total of 617, 53 shots ahead of regional runner-up Orange Coast (338-332-670) and 63 shots ahead of third-place Moorpark (343-337-380).
Joining the Mounties, Pirates and Raiders from Southern California for this weekend’s 3C2A Women’s Golf State Finals include Cuyamaca (351-346-697) and Santa Barbara City College (364-342-706). The finals will take place on Sunday and Monday (7:30 a.m. start times each day) at Monarch Dunes Golf Club, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Mt. SAC was paced by the strong play of Kylie Lau. After opening the regional with an even-par, 74, she bettered her score on Monday with a 4-under-par, 70, for a two-round total of 144.
Santa Barbara City College’s Annie Betts flipped Lau’s scores, shooting a 70-74 to match the score of 144 (Betts earned the top spot by way of a tiebreaker).
Sahya Kitabatake from College of the Canyons earned Monday’s third par-or-better performance, shooting a 1-under-par 73 and finished third overall with a 149, followed by fellow All-Region selections, Natalie Neal of Mt. SAC (151), Kiana Glossner of Cuyamaca (154) and Mt. SAC’s Sophia Miller (155).
In addition to the five teams heading to Nipomo this weekend, several individual golfers from other schools qualified for the State Finals, including Kitabatake, Madison Randolph (Mt. San Jacinto), Kayla Speer (Desert), Kariss Whitford (Allan Hancock), Ariana Perez (Fullerton), Viddhi Sanghavi (Fullerton), Michelle Oh (Fullerton), Julie Garcia (Fullerton), Cierra Coia (Canyons) and Myah Urquidez (Desert).

Reedley leads from start to finish in capturing NorCal Regionals
DAVIS - Reedley College placed four golfers among the top 10 places and that was more then enough to help the Tigers roar to a 24-shot victory at the 3C2A Northern California Golf Championship at Wildhorse Golf Club in Davis on Sunday and Monday.
Reedley posted back-to-back scores of 308 and 307 over the par-72, 5,612-yard layout for a two-day total of 615. Defending regional champion Modesto (321-318-639) finished second while Sacramento City (324-332-656) and Napa Valley (353-355-708) rounded out the top four teas which all qualified for the 3C2A State Championship tournament that begins on Sunday. Maya Promwongsa fired rounds of 3-over 75 and 1-over 73 to earn runner-up honors behind medalist Madi Paulsen of Sacramento City who went 70-73-143 for the five-shot victory.
Ethel Aesequia (76-78-154), Ava Arredondo (77-82-159) and Kennedy Sever (86-81-167) were 5th, 8th and tied for 10th, respectively, to help Reedley's cause. Jacie Johnson (80-90-170) tied for 12th to also help the Tigers. Alyssa Qualio of San Joaquin Delta tied for third with Holly Reese of Modesto at 9-over 153.
