SALINAS - Orange Coast College put up a pair of top Socal performances at the Biola Invitational at Craig Park. Last year's 21st place state finisher Liberty Miller covered the 5km course in a swift 18:15. Miller placed 20th overall in the four-year heavy field. She appears primed to be an All-American come November.
Pirate freshman Moises Bailon crossed the 8km finish at the Biola Invitational as the top two-year runner in 26:00. This was Bailon's first time leading the Pirates in competition this season.
After a stellar debut at the Clovis Crush Invitational two weeks ago, freshman Erika Dorn of the College of San Mateo continued to impress with a third-place finish at the Lobo Invitational. Dorn covered the challenging 5km course at Palo Corona in 20:16 to be the top Norcal finish by over one minute.
Butte College enjoyed the team victory at the Lobo Invitational thanks in large part to the fifth-place finish of Mark Velazquez-Patino in 21:06. He pulled his teammates Stephan Chapdelaine and Phillip Logan into the top ten overall. Velazquez-Patino has made big improvements since last fall's 21st-place finish at the Norcal Championship.
