SAN MATEO – Unbeaten Golden West College (10-0) is a unanimous No. 1 selection in the final regular season JC Athletic Bureau ratings for the California Community College Football Coaches Association, taking all 16 first place votes to total 400 points. The Rustlers are the top SoCal region seed for the 3C2A state football playoffs.
Defending state champion College of San Mateo (9-1) is ranked No. 2 with 379 points and is the top NorCal seed. Mt. San Antonio College (9-1), the 2024 state runner-up, is ranked third.
All colleges have a bye Nov. 15, before playoffs begin on Nov. 22 -– with the top two seeds in each region having regional quarterfinal byes -- then hosting semifinal games on Nov. 29.
Golden West is the last remaining National (state championship) division unbeaten team after wrapping up the Central League title with a 33-22 win over Fullerton (7-3), which dropped a spot to No. 11 in the poll. Seventh ranked Cerritos finished second, taking a state playoff berth, ahead of Fullerton.
Formerly No. 2 Ventura (9-1) fell from the perfect ranks in the Northern League championship game with Mt. San Antonio, 55-54, sharing the title with the Mounties. Ventura dropped to No. 4 this week. Saddleback (9-1) is up a place to No. 5 after taking its Southern League title decider with El Camino, 49-7. ElCo (8-2) dropped 5th to No. 9 in the poll.
San Mateo got a share of its fourth straight Bay 6 League crown after smacking Laney, 52-20, while No. 6 Diablo Valley (9-1) gained part of a 3-way title tie by downing previous league leader No. 12 City College of San Francisco (7-3), 34-21. The trio grabbed three of the north’s top four playoff seeds.
Eighth-ranked Modesto (8-2) took the Valley League title (and No. 2 region seed) with a 33-27 victory over contender College of the Sequoias (7-3), which then just missed getting a playoff berth (that went to Fresno). Butte won a NorCal League co-title with a 24-21 win over Sierra, taking the No. 6 seed.
Opening region quarterfinals Nov. 22 in the south find #6 seed El Camino at #3 Mt. SAC (winner plays at #2 Saddleback) and #5 Cerritos at #4 Ventura (winner plays at top seed Golden West).
North openers have #6 seed Butte at #3 Diablo Valley (winner plays at #2 Modesto) and #5 Fresno at #4 CCSF (winner goes to #1 San Mateo). Region semis are Nov. 29 and finals Dec. 6.

No. 18 De Anza College (10-0) is the only unbeaten team in the American Division, which will have regional bowl games -- including games matching the top two teams in each region.
